Sony Pictures Imageworks offers this 0:50 effects
reel illustrating how CG helped the Man of Steel launch
the Space Shuttle into orbit and away from danger in Superman
Returns. Starting with basic figure
animation which undergoes layers of texturing and complext
lighting passes, the final composite shows Superman hurling
the shuttle into space amid the film's amazing rescue sequence.
