Andy Serkis introduces another film clip from RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, depicting the harrowing moment when Will Rodman (James Franco) leaves his super-intelligent hybrid chimp Caesar at a primate facility run by John Langdon (Brian Cox).
This clip may be the best example yet of how far the performance capture technology as evolved since Serkis enacted Kong for Peter Jackson and James Cameron took us to Pandora in AVATAR. Empathizing with Caesar's fear, betrayal and anger at being abandoned by Will becomes a quick response, motivated by a combination of Serkis' expressions and actions in the guise of the chimp. We can only imagine how the cumulative effect of spending an entire feature film with Caesar on-screen will have on audience's emotions and involvement in this story.
