DARK SHADOWS movie star Johnny Depp praises the Barnabas Collins role originator, Jonathan Frid, for his iconic portrayal of the Gothic TV series' reluctant vampire, and suggests he will maintain key elements of Frid's character traits in the Tim Burton remake. Depp stated in his MTV Movies interview promoting his new animated film RANGO:
"What Jonathan Frid did with that character and that sort of classic, iconic look he created - i find it very difficult to stray far from that. So I think it's going to be somewhere in that arena, I feel ilke it is, with maybe just a couple of different touches here and there. There's something about the idea of this vampire coming back after 200 years into the this modern world with a touch of the poetic, with maybe a tendency to wax a little poetic now and again. I have a good feeling about it. But Jonathan Frid's Barnabas is so special."
