AUGUST 10, 2010 — As young Boba Fett ensured his name will live in infamy in the Republic and among the Jedi Knights in the thrilling Season Two finale, today Lucasfilm and Cartoon Network announce a special ONE-HOUR Season Three premiere episode of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS airing at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT Friday, September 17th on Cartoon Network. Lucasfilm's press release promises that secrets will be revealed this season as Anakin Skywalker's destiny as the Chosen One fated to restore balance in the Force may tip the balance of power in the galaxy toward darkness.

Bothan spies at Lucasfilm have provided FILMEDGE with a high-res animation still and a sneak preview trailer which only hints at the exciting action, drama, humor and suspense awaiting fans in Season Three beginning this September. In this trailer, Yoda warns with ominous implications for this upcoming seasons of THE CLONE WARS: "Always in motion is the future, and many possible futures there are." Expect a dynamic, dramatic season ahead as Anakin, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Master Yoda, Mace Windu and Ahsoka confront the increasing threat by the Separatist forces, Count Dooku, General Grievous, Boba Fett, bounty hunters and even darker enemies lurking in the shadows of the Clone Wars. Check out this video preview of Season Three:

The special, one-hour season three premiere event of Star Wars: The Clone Wars airs Friday, September 17, at 9 p.m. (et/pt).

The season two finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars was the highest-rated telecast of the season among all key kid demos—2-11, 6-11, 9-14. The one-hour special also took the #1 spot as the most-watched telecast of the day (May 2) among boys 6-14, and #1 for its time slot with kids 6-14 versus all television. Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a thrilling, weekly 30-minute "mini-movie" created by the talented artists at Lucasfilm Animation.
