John Connor (Christian Bale) invades the heart of Skynet where death is manufactured on assembly lines in this newly released image from TERMINATOR:SALVATION. It appears Connor has infiltrated Skynet's Terminator factory, judging from the two inert T-700 endoskeletons hung on racks in this gritty, greasy environment. [Note: this news report confirms these Terminators are T-700 models, not T-600s.]
The moody lighting and atmospherics of this shot are quite reminiscent of the steel forge in TERMINATOR 2, and perhaps even somewhat consistent with the mechanized interiors of Skynet shown in Universal's TERMINATOR 2: 3D - BATTLE ACROSS TIME attraction, though with much more detail built into the set.
Connor certainly enters the scene with caution, and we can only guess at what other high-tech horrors remain unseen in this shot, or what secrets he may learn inside the Terminator factory. Who knows when these chrome killers could activate with a human target invading Skynet's domain?
