BEHIND THE SCENES:
As of now, almost nothing official is known about SUPER 8, writer/director J.J. Abrams' upcoming sci-fi thriller due in theaters next Summer. That is the way Abrams and Paramount want it to be in order to build anticipation for the film and activate the Alternate Reality Game slowly revealing clues to fan-players.
Reports indicate that SUPER 8 will be Abrams' personal salute and cinematic homage to the mid-1970s and early-1980s films of Steven Spielberg, which include a wide variety of stories from the summer shocker JAWS to the UFO mystery of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND. The teaser trailer for SUPER 8 below is an excellent synthesis of unseen horror, desperate drama and mysterious discovery:
