CONCEPT DESIGNER NEVILLE PAGE HINTS AT SUPER 8 CREATURE DEVELOPMENT
Wired has a great, all-too-brief interview with concept designer Neville Page (CLOVERFIELD, STAR TREK, AVATAR) who discusses his experiences working on futurist costume designs for TRON: LEGACY and the mysterious creature lurking at the mysterious heart of J.J. Abrams' upcoming sci-fi thriller SUPER 8.
While Page gives away nothing about the whats-it he's designing for SUPER 8, he offers some keen insights into how Abrams urged Page to explore a wide variety of creature concepts in their previous collaborations, and how that process was begun and amplified for SUPER 8.
Page also contrasts this experience with his 'hardware' designs for director Joe Kosinski in creating the look of TRON: LEGACY, and how he tried to talk James Cameron into a cameo appearance in PIRANHA 3D. Have a look!
Writer/director J.J. Abrams begins production on SUPER 8 this September with a theatrical release date sometime in Summer 2011.
