DYNAMIC NEW SHERLOCK HOLMES TRAILER — November 05, 2009

Warner Brothers has released a dynamic, action-packed new theatrical trailer for Guy Ritchie's SHERLOCK HOLMES, which sets up the mysterious mortal conflict between the dark genius of Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong) and the illuminated reasoning of Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.).

Amid the explosions, pistol firing and comic banter between Holmes and Watson (Jude Law), a mystical undercurrent of cults and the supernatural surround Blackwood, who appears to arise from his grave and set the mystery afoot for the deductive mastermind to solve.  Yet Irene Adler (Rachel McAdams), a bold adventuress, warns that Blackwood's devious cunning will prove a dangerous test for Holmes enlightened rationality.

Intercut with demonstration of Sherlock's swordfighting skills and his treatise on hand-to-hand combat, rituals of dark magic and possessed victims may well prove that Blackwood is indeed beyond a merely mortal enemy for Holmes to defeat.

This is our best look yet at Ritchie's vision of SHERLOCK HOLMES, and it's an intriguingly good one too.
